Welcome to Keep it Boozie! So glad you are here.
My name is Christine Ziegler wife of musician Jason Ziegler from Copper Fields. My husband and I met as teenagers, yes we are high- school sweethearts. Both of us come from a music and art background. Our love for cooking together started back in 2005. We would search for recipes, make a grocery run, put on some tunes and pray for the best. We tried tons of recipes, created some and even tweaked a few. We’ve burnt dishes, over or under cooked but it never stopped us. We wanted to learn more about spices and herbs, try new food and learn different ways of cooking.
When we started paying close attention to the ingredients in our food and how the preservatives, hormones and chemicals were affecting our health. We immediately made the switch to Organic living. Everyone thinks living Organic is expensive but that is so not true. We find ourselves spending less because we are not buying half the stuff we used to. By eating healthier it has brought out so many new recipes and broadened our taste buds to try new things.
Living in a small townhouse in a apartment complex has its challenges, you have to be creative on space not just for cooking but for planting as well. Utilizing every inch of the garden we are able to plant a decent amount of herbs and veggies. There is something very satisfying about being able to step out your door, pick the food that you grew and cook it.
As each meal is prepared, we’ve become an amazing duo in the kitchen. I find myself posting pictures of our meals on Facebook and Instagram. Most of the pics are taken right from my cell phone. I love sharing recipes and healthier alternatives and that is when Keep It Boozie started. We want everyone to get a glimpse into our daily life, show others how easy it is to eat healthy and follow recipes without compromising on taste.
Everyone always asks about the name of the blog. Well in the Urban dictionary Boozie is a compliment and means supa-fly and I couldn’t think of a better word to describe our cooking. With this blog I hope to inspire more people to eat healthier , save money at the grocery store and spend less time eating out. Don’t get me wrong occasionally we treat ourselves to a night out to dinner. But when you learn to cook you find your food taste just as good if not better so really why bother. What I have learned from the start of all this is you don’t need experience or a lot of time to make incredible food. You just have to Keep it Real- Keep it Simple and Keep it Boozie. So lets turn on your favorite music, try some new ingredients and lets start cooking!
